Tulip 'Georgette'
Tulip 'Georgette'
By William Chia Yong Liang, ART:DIS
Tulip ‘Georgette’ captures a vibrant yellow tulip, with delicately painted petals conveying a sense of warmth and life. A butterfly flits gracefully towards the flower, adding a dynamic contrast against the serene backdrop. The composition celebrates the ephemeral beauty of nature, where the fleeting moment of the butterfly's flight symbolizes the delicate dance between life and its surroundings.
About
William became quadriplegic after an unfortunate diving accident in 1981 and lost his ability to speak following a stroke in 2007. However, with much persistence and rehabilitation, his condition improved and William was able to move around with a wheelchair. Encouraged by his wife, William began exploring painting with his mouth. After hours of practice, he now paints detailed watercolor landscapes and views the activity as therapeutic, giving him strength and confidence.
