White Red Cap Oranda Goldfishes

双鱼吉庆：金鱼是和平、幸福、美好、富有的象征，在中国有着“金玉（金鱼）满堂、年年有余（鱼）”的吉祥寓意，我便 把金鱼加上“随意泼彩背景”而形成这幅画。

Double Fish Fortune: Goldfish symbolize peace, happiness, beauty, and prosperity. In China, they carry auspicious meanings such as ‘May your home be filled with gold and jade (goldfish) and may you have abundance year after year (fish).’ I incorporated goldfish with a ‘spontaneous splash of color background’ to create this painting.

Tan Kok Leong, born in 1965, was an active member in a lion dance troupe under the People's Association. His life took a dramatic turn following a cervical vertebrae injury during a somersault, which rendered him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Despite this challenge, Tan Kok Leong's artistic expression flourished, his work is characterised by the classical Far Eastern tradition of painting, which can be seen in particular in his preferred subjects of mythological and fantasy scenes, and also in his watercolour studies of flowers and animals. His paintings also reveal the influence of European and American art, with portraits being his favorite subjects and a special fondness for oil painting. He has also studied traditional Chinese painting techniques, discovering his love for Chinese art and effectively incorporating these techniques into his work.
